We sang the mandatory national anthem,Negara Ku followed by the state song, Bangsa Johor. The teaching staff aka lecturers sang with gusto Lagu Guru Malaysia. We had a cake-cutting ceremony headed by the Director, En. Zaidi bin Yazid. Gifts were also exchanged by drawing lots among the lecturers and support staff. At noon, we had tahlil & doa selamat kesyukuran. For the feast, it was nasi briyani donated collectively by those who got promoted to DG 52 (yours truly), DG 48 & DG 44. I baked chocolate moist (my favourite recipe) for the pot luck contribution.

Now, the young ladies: Diligent Nadia, quiet but firm Fatin, positive Fadilah, affable and optimistic Izzaty, industrious Nina, committed Fatimah, quiet Norfazira and joyous Asmah.

All the best in your future undertakings.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE MINI CARNIVAL KMTJ 2011

10 MARCH 2011
The Technocrat Voice Club (TVC) members under the guidance of En. Abdul Razak bin A. Rahim, Head of the English Unit organized a mini carnival in March. Activities included an argumentative essay writing competition (Teenagers nowadays are disrespectful of the elders. Do you agree?), pop quiz and scrabble. I was one of the judges for the essay and I must admit, a few students conveyed good points as food for thought. Pop quiz was conducted in class. It was hilarious and no doubt very noisy when students tried to outdo each other in their pursuit for excellence. Even though marks were deducted for wrong answers that never deter them. They laughed out loud when other groups got their marks deducted but when it was their own group, the story took a different tune. That's normal. However, it was good to see them letting their hair down - released tension and enjoyed themselves. (Final exams: 11 - 20 April 2011). Prize giving ceremony was on 10th March, after class. Nur Izzaty from C1T4 went on stage to receive the prize for her group - champion in pop quiz. Nina Syazwani from the same class, a member of the TVC lent a hand to help convey prizes. Congratulations to all!

Malam Dinamika KMTJ 2011

4th March 2011 (Dewan Teknokrat, KMTJ)
One of my responsibilities as Head of Department was to officiate functions and the like. Students organized everything, from the date, venue, VIP , guests, entertainment, menu and even serving guests with proper cutlery too. The theme was black and white (like the Black & White Minstrel Show, I thought). My kebaya was white, anyway and the sarong, black batik with white motif - last minute shopping at Pontian Mall.I admit that the female students dressed up for the occassion and they were resplendent. The food served was nice and I felt amused when the committee members who sat together with me at the VIP table got to be at their best behaviour (they were being assessed for their coursework). How relieved they were when I broke the ice and told them to take it easy. The entertainment segment mostly dwelled on loud music akin to the young ones. It's their world. Age is just a number and it reminded me of my three teenagers and their preference of music. To each his own. Thank you (students and lecturers) for doing a good job. The poses they had for their album would no doubt be fond memories of life at KMTJ.
